When you visit the Miro Museum you will get the chance to discover the world of Joan Miro who was a famous Catalan artist. At the museum you can enjoy a collection of modern works of art including colorful paintings and sculptures. The full name of the museum is the Fundacio Joan Miro Museum and on a visit here you can learn all about this surrealist artist who is famous across Spain. Miro was known for using bold colors for his pieces and Ernest Hemingway compared one of his paintings called The Farm to the work Ulysses by James Joyce. On a visit to the museum you will find 15,000 pieces of art on display which includes around 8,000 drawings as well as 217 paintings and 178 sculptures. There are also ceramics pieces including graphics and textiles.
In 1968 Miro also created a foundation which was meant to help young people to engage with the art world and this is why the museum is also known as the Fundacio Miro Museum. As well as static exhibits, the museum also regularly has rotating exhibitions which showcase engaging works of art from both the 20th and 21st century.
