The New York Aquarium is famous for being the oldest aquarium in America that is still in operation. The aquarium first opened in 1896 in Battery Park and from 1957 onwards has been situated at Coney Island. The aquarium complex spans some 14 acres and has 266 kinds of marine life. The aim is to educate visitors about oceans and you can tour tanks, galleries and special exhibitions.
